Shell’s Prelude FLNG (floating liquified natural gas) facility produces and processes natural gas off the Australian coast. It is one of the most prestigious and costly projects in Shell’s history and it therefore is of the highest importance to protect the facility and the people working on it.
On a facility producing and processing natural gas so far away from land, it is extremely important to have the best possible fire protection system. As a supplier of SKUM firefighting equipment, Lavastica was consulted for the upgrade of the PP-100, PP-200 and PP-250 balanced foam proportioners for the fire monitors. The proportioners mix the foam concentrate with the water from the fire pump, making the ideal foam mix for suppressing fires on board.
