The Apollo SIL Discovery Ionisation Detector (58000-500SIL) provides fast and reliable fire detection in applications where fast-burning and flaming fires are a potential risk. Using ionisation sensing technology, the detector continuously monitors changes within the sensing chamber and quickly identifies combustion particles generated during the early stages of a fire.

The detector operates using a low activity radioactive source that ionises the air within the sensing chamber, creating a small electrical current. When smoke enters the chamber, the current changes, allowing the detector to recognise the presence of fire and initiate an alarm.
