Pride of York & Pride of Bruges – Fire detection extended lifetime projects
The Ro-Ro/Passenger ferries “Pride of York” and “Pride of Bruges” owned by P&O Ferries were built in 1987. Both vessels are equipped with Autronica fire detection systems type BS-100. After Autronica announced to stop producing spare parts for this system, P&O Ferries contacted Lavastica to find a solution for their fire detection systems. Lavastica quoted (partial) refits of the systems, but with an expected remaining lifetime of the vessels of only 4 to 5 years, this option was hard to justify. Therefore, we have made an estimation of the total spare parts that would be needed for each vessel for the remainder of the lifetime. P&O Ferries has chosen this most economical option to keep the vessels sailing safely during their last years of service.
