The Tyco MR501Ex 516.031.002 is an intrinsically safe (I.S.) smoke detector. The Tyco MR501Ex is designed to detect visible smoke that is produced by materials which smoulder or burn slowly. The MR501Ex is used in general applications and in areas where cable overheating may occur, such as electrical service areas.
The design of the asymmetrical sampling chamber and signal processing techniques stop unwanted alarms that are cause by very small insects. Smoke that enters the sampling chamber scatters the infra-red light pulses onto a photodiode.
