Lavastica International was contacted Mitsubishi for advice, engineering and production of new cooling water pumps. Due to new IMO2 emission regulations for the maritime industry, Mitsubishi Diesel Engines, part of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries group, was forced to separate their high temperature (HT) and low temperature (LT) cooling systems on their maritime diesel engines. Mitsubishi decided to make a closed circuit fresh water LT cooling system on the engines.

Because of different engine types, we decided to use two different types of custom built pumps for the different engine types. The mounting bracket, ball bearings, shaft and bearing bracket were all custom designed according to Mitsubishi requirements. All maritime Mitsubishi Diesel engines under IMO2 are using with great success our custom made pumps.
