Kaunas Seaways – Fire detection upgrade

Lavastica received an order from DFDS to enhance the fire detection system aboard the "Kaunas Seaways," a Ro-Ro/Passenger vessel constructed in 1989. The ship was originally equipped with an outdated and malfunctioning Servoteknikk MBS-802 conventional fire detection system, prompting the need for an upgrade.

DFDS granted Lavastica the order to upgrade the fire detection system on board of Kaunas Seaways.

Ro-Ro/Passenger vessel “Kaunas Seaways” is a DFDS ferry vessel built in 1989. The vessel was equipped with an old Servoteknikk MBS-802 conventional fire detection and not working properly anymore. Lavastica arranged a inventory of the fire detection system by a well-trained engineer.  Based on the report, if was clear that the fire alarm central had to be upgraded. Lavastica selected and advised a Salwico Cargo CI system. All the old smoke detectors and heat detectors could be maintained to keep the costs of this upgrade low. The manual call points has been upgraded to MCP-C/IP24 and MCP-C/IP67. Also the commissioning of the system in Ukraine was arranged by Lavastica International. Lavastica has completed the project in a short period of time and in the most (cost) effective way.
