FPSO Espirito Santo – Custom Floating Y-piece

The FPSO Espirito Santo, responsible for oil storage, facilitates the transfer of oil to a tanker through an export hose connected to a (floating) Y-piece. Given its substantial storage capacity exceeding 2,000,000 barrels of oil, the FPSO necessitates a significantly sized export hose and a robustly engineered Y-piece to ensure the efficient and secure offloading of oil to the tanker.

An FPSO stores oil and when it offloads to a tanker, this is done through the export hose, connected to a (floating) Y-piece. With a storage capacity of more than 2.000.000 barrels of oil, FPSO Espirito Santo requires a serious sized export hose and therefore also a massive Y-piece.

Lavastica International was contacted by SBM Offshore to supply the floating Y-piece with polyethylene foam coating. The 1.100 kilogram, 2,5 meter high Y-piece supplied by Lavastica has a 24” connection on one side and a double 16” connection on the other. All that with the beautiful “Lavastica orange” colored coating.
