The Apollo Series 65 Ionisation Smoke Detector with Flashing LED (55000-216APO) provides fast and reliable detection of rapidly developing fires. Using proven ionisation sensing technology, the detector constantly monitors the air within its sensing chamber and quickly responds to the small combustion particles produced by fast burning, flaming fires.
The detector uses a low activity radioactive foil to ionise the air inside the smoke chamber, creating a small electrical current. When smoke enters the chamber, it disrupts this current flow. The detector monitors these changes and triggers an alarm when smoke levels indicate a fire condition.
