Tyco EXI800 Intrinsically Safe Loop Interface Module (514.001.063)

The Tyco EXI800 (514.001.063) is an interface module designed to connect Tyco MX addressable fire alarm systems to intrinsically safe field devices installed in hazardous areas. When used with a compatible galvanic isolator, it enables the MX control panel to communicate without effort with devices on the essentially safe loop, including 800Ex detectors, IF800Ex interface modules, and CP840Ex manual call points.

The EXI800 reduces standard MX loop voltages and signaling currents to levels that are suitable for dangerous environments. As a result, engineers can extend MX fire detection systems into dangerous areas while keeping full communication and monitoring capabilities.

Furthermore, the EXI800 continuously monitors the connected loops and automatically detects short circuits on the left loop, right loop, or intrinsically safe loop. If a fault occurs, the module isolates the affected loop section, helping to maintain operation of the remaining system and improve overall reliability.

In addition, the EXI800 interfaces directly with the Pepperl+Fuchs KFD0-CS-Ex1.54 Galvanic Isolator, which supplies the loop voltage and signaling required for essentially safe field devices.
