The Apollo Series 65 Integrating Ionisation Smoke Detector (55000-219APO) delivers fast and dependable detection of rapidly developing, flaming fires. Using proven ionisation sensing technology, the detector constantly monitors the air within its sensing chamber and quickly responds to the small combustion particles typically produced by fast burning fires.

The detector uses a low activity radioactive foil to ionise the air inside the smoke chamber, creating a small electrical current. When smoke enters the chamber, it interrupts this current flow. The detector constantly monitors these changes and triggers an alarm when smoke levels indicate a genuine fire condition.

Unlike standard ionisation detectors, the 55000-219APO incorporates integrating circuitry that tolerates short-term increases in smoke levels above the normal alarm threshold for up to 20 seconds. This helps reduce false alarms in environments where temporary smoke conditions may occur, while still providing reliable fire detection when a real fire develops.
