Tyco 5BI 5″ Isolator Base 517.050.018

The Tyco 5BI (517.050.018) serves as both a detector base for MX addressable detectors and a short-circuit protection device for the MX addressable loop. By continuously monitoring loop voltage, it helps maintain system integrity and ensures reliable operation during fault conditions.

Furthermore, the 5BI automatically detects short circuits on the addressable loop and isolates the affected section, allowing the remainder of the loop to continue operating normally. As a result, a single wiring fault cannot compromise the entire fire detection system.

In addition, if a detector connected to the 5BI develops a short circuit, the base automatically isolates both sides of the loop from the faulty device. Consequently, engineers can protect other devices on the loop from disruption while quickly identifying and resolving the fault.
