The MSA FlameGard 5 UV/IR-E Flame Detector can detect fires by monitoring both the ultraviolet and the infrared spectral ranges, making the MSA FlameGard 5 almost immune to false alarms caused by lightning, arc welding, hot objects and other sources of radiation. The electronics of the FlameGard 5 are integral within an explosionproof housing allowing Detector information to be processed at the point of detection.
