Crowcon 40/40L4-L4B UV/IR Flame Detector
The Crowcon 40/40L4-L4B is identical to the 40/40L-LB, except that the wavelength of the IR sensor works at 4.5 µm and is only suitable for hydrocarbon-based fuel and gas fires. The Crowcon 40/40L4-L4B UV/IR flame detector can sense radiant energy in the short wave section of both the UV and IR portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Both sensors have signals that are analysed for frequency, intensity and duration. Simultaneous detection of radiant energy in both the UV and IR sensors will trigger an alarm signal.
The UV sensor incorporates a special logic circuit that helps prevent false alarms caused by solar radiation. The 40/40 Series is approved to IEC 61508 Safety Integrity requirements of SIL2 (TUV).
