Apollo AlarmSense Heat Detectors (55000-190)

The AlarmSense heat detector uses a matched pair of thermistors to sense heat. One thermistor is exposed to the ambient temperature, while the other is sealed. In normal conditions, the two thermistors register similar temperatures, but on the development of a fire, the temperature recorded by the exposed thermistor will increase rapidly, resulting in an imbalance of the thermistors and causing the detector to change to the alarm state.

There are two heat detectors in the AlarmSense range designed to suit a wide variety of o
perating conditions. A static heat detector (CS) which responds only when a fixed temperature has been reached and a rate-of-rise detector (A1R) which has a fixed upper limit, but in addition, measures the rate of increase in temperature.
